This is a visual enquiry into particular ways of relating to reality, for which photography not just simply records or reproduces, but also speculates, transfigures, creates space for reinterpretation and reimagining futures. Otherwise, in my day-to-day job, I am a researcher and policy analyst with expertise in pluralist economics for climate change, sustainability, and social justice. I also have an interest in the (social) science - arts interface, and in pursuing projects that combine research with photography.
The photography is quite diverse in its topical approach, though with a soft spot for the urban environment, people, abandoned places, industrial architecture, patterns and colours, forms of beauty, and moody ambients. The onus is on composition, simplicity, varying angles, and on, what is hoped, the creation of inquisitive and stimulating images.
Both digital (including iPhone) and analogue photography are pursued. The prints are sometimes combined, for exhibition purposes, with other contextual forms of display or viewer-image interactions, going beyond conventional framing.
