The visual imagery pursued sets to explore alternative facets of reality, for which photography has the potential to transfigure, reveal, or strive to get close to what Werner Herzog referred to as the 'poetic' or 'ecstatic truth' (n.b. no claim here that this is achieved). Otherwise, in my day-to-day job, I am a researcher and policy analyst with expertise on pluralist economics for climate change, sustainability, and social justice. I also have an interest in the (social) science - arts interface, and in pursuing projects that combine research with photography.
The photography is quite diverse in its topical approach, though with a soft spot for the urban environment, people, abandoned places, industrial architecture, patterns and colours, beauty (in the eye of the beholder), and moody ambients. The onus is on composition, simplicity, varying angles, incomplete pictures, and on, what is hoped, the creation of arresting images.
Both digital and analogue photography are pursued. The prints are sometimes combined, for exhibition purposes, with other contextual forms of display or viewer-image interactions, going beyond conventional framing.
